I believe advertising and marketing is necessary in our world today. However, the manipulation in such advertising is not. Buyers should make informed decision on the products they buy. Obviously this is not completely realistic; if a corporation is putting a lot of money into advertising then it needs to help sell good/services. Simply, providing information to the consumer is clearly not the best way to accomplish this. Marketing to younger children is a different story. Children do not have the cognitive ability to think critically, which makes the manipulation in ads that much more effective. Children cannot make an informed decision such as adults can with the same information in the same ads. This makes marketing to younger kids fundamentally wrong.

I agree with this totally. Commercials for kids combine explosions and other unrealistic ideas to make their product seem cool and hip. A child should not have to nag a parent to buy something. Instead the parent should be willing to buy the product, knowing that the child is going to have fun and learn from that product
