The Pursuit of Happiness
What is happiness really? When looking at happiness everyone has their own definition and who is to say which happiness is better? Some may think have all the money in the world is happiness and others just getting their family to the next day would bring them happiness. Life should be devoted to the pursuit of happiness but sometimes that can be difficult and stressful. With happiness a person needs to considered what they find pleasurable so there will be an absence of pain. The pleasures that Mill considers are of intellect, of the feelings and imagination, and of the moral sentiments a much higher value as pleasures than those of mere sensation. What he means by mere sensation is food and sex because those pleasures only last for a little bit and go away while the others stay and influence your life and make it better. To me the greatest happiness is finding pleasure in helping those in need because you are actually doing good and making others have a better life. Does anyone else have an opinion on what happiness is?
