Greed and money is what the majority of corporations are worried about the most. Why is it so tough for corporations to do what is right? From the film we watched on Wednesday, I wasn't shocked but taken back when the head of Nike wouldn't go on a visit to where his items were being made. He knew there was something wrong going on and clearly avoided it. This is just one of many corporations that have no regards for their employees and this is what Freeman wants to be enforced.
Here is a link to a site that talks just about child labor in Pakistan:
In summing up this site, it talks about the conditions and how Nike has been accused of using child labor, but because the economy in Pakistan isn't strong in any way, the government there doesn't enforce the laws of child labor. This site also talks about how Nike has denied any checks on their management overseas. If they aren't hiding anything then why wouldn't the head of Nike take a tour there? This is just one plant and one company, I'm sure there are more just like it.
The government needs to step up and take actions against this kind of behavior from corporations. Money shouldn't be everything and people need to realize what they are doing

  1. I agree, I was shocked by the fact that these overseas sweatshops were being guarded and protected. I was a little confused if it was that particular government or the actual corporation that would have hired and been paying the men. The best part of the Nike owner was that he totally disregared the fact that he obviously wouldnt go, and played it off like he was just busy and then invited the guy to the Australian open.

  2. I agree with this as well. It is one thing to make as much money as possible for a company, but at what cost? Making money is important, but I think a person's well-being should come first.
