After lookin at the readings for Product safety, i found a case on Barbara Austin vs Ford Motor company. The case came up when a lady was killed in a one car accident, when she was driving 90 Mph and was thrown from her car (a ford), and died.  She was wearing a seat belt but the police claim that it broke in half?  Austin's family sued the Ford Motor Company for her death.  Do you think they won??

The Austin family did end up winning because Ford as a corporation has to make sure that if a driver or passenger wears a seat belt, then they have to be protected by the seat belt.  And if it is not properly made, then it is the companies fault.  Is that fair?  I think so, because if you make them, then they should protect the drivers and passengers.

  1. i think this case on product safety can be very controversial. The problem with the seat belt should definitely be fixed and this event could have been prevented but what I see as a problem is why she was driving 90 mph and who is to say that a safety belt would have prevented this accident from happening? I cant see how they could sue the company for something they don't necessarily stress when making their product. I'm sure they don't test their seat belts for a car going almost 100 mph but stress more on when the car is going 10 or 15 mph over the speed limit.
