Corporate Social Responsibility

I agree with Milton Friedman when he says that a corporations job is to maximize profits for their shareholders and employers. I think that it should be up to the individual to decide what is right or wrong, not the corporation as a whole. As long as the company stays within its legal rights they should do whatever they need to do to maximize profits. The same values may not be shared by the large number of people. There would be no noncontroversial way to decide what is right or wrong thus taking away from the productivity of the company. A movie related to this topic would be A Company Men. Altogether it was a pretty good movie and came down to a company deciding on what is right or wrong. All of this happening because they were trying to maximize the share price for their share holders.
