The invisible hand, as proposed by Adam Smith, insists that if corporation do right by the society as a whole they will in turn do well for themselves. The "invisible hand" is the result of corporations as a whole focusing on the bigger picture and not just there own selfish needs. When corporations focus on doing well for the society this "invisible hand" not only makes the company successful but also enhances the productivity and well being of other corporations and society as a whole. As we have noticed in class, the theory of the "invisible hand", can be twisted to fit any one perspective. We saw Milton Friedman and Curtis White both support the invisible hand idea but in very different ways. I agree with Curtis White when he states that Adam Smith and this idea have been taken out of the context of the time when Smith initially wrote the "Wealth of Nations".
